Sr. June Denne, IHM, 90, died Sept. 1 in the IHM Health Care Center.
Sr. Denne was one of three daughters and five sons born to Clarence and Laura (Treves) Denne. She was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Detroit. She attended St. Gabriel Elementary and Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit and then entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in 1941.
Sr. Denne earned a bachelor’s degree from Marygrove College and a master’s degree from Wayne State University. Her teaching career spanned 37 years at St. Michael and St. Matthew, Flint; St. Martin, St. Boniface, All Saints, St. Raymond, Our Lady of Good Counsel and Gesu in Detroit; St. Philip, Battle Creek; St. Monica, Mobile, Ala.; Hall of the Divine Child, Monroe; and St. Mary, Mt. Morris.
In 1973, Sr. Denne moved to Florida and began a second career in human development and religious education. Sr. Denne retired to the Motherhouse in 2003 and continued to be active in volunteer ministry.
Sr. Denne is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd, Clarence, Rene, Raymond and John; and sisters, Evelyn and Virginia.
Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 5 at the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe. Burial was to follow in St. Mary Cemetery on the Motherhouse Campus.
