Sr. Margaret Anne Faber, OP

Sr. Margaret Anne Faber, OP, formerly known as Sr. Anne Margaret Faber, died Oct. 23 at Beaumont/Grosse Pointe Hospital in Grosse Pointe. She was 82 and in the 54th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

She was born in Dearborn to John and Olive (McArthur) Faber. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Dearborn; received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Education degree in education, both from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian; a Master of Arts degree in Reading-Learning Disabilities, and a degree in special education administration, both from University of Detroit (Detroit-Mercy).

Sister spent 39 years in elementary education and special education, including at St. Peter, Harper Woods (1958-60), Holy Name, Detroit (1965-68); St. Gabriel, Detroit (1968-71); Bellevue Elementary, Detroit (1971-78); Osborn High School, Detroit (1978-83 and 1985-97); Resource Center, Detroit (1983-85).

She was a hospital chaplain for 12 years at Children’s Hospital, St. John Hospital-Medical Center and Henry Ford Hospital, all in Detroit, Beaumont/Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe and the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. Sister was a resident of Detroit,Michigan.

Sr. Faber is survived by loving cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 27 in Holy Rosary Chapel at the Adrian Sisters Motherhouse inAdrian. Burial was in the congregation’s cemetery.
