Sr. Marlene Lammers, CSJ, entered eternal life Sept. 30. She was 92.
Lucille Lammers was born in Ottawa, Ohio, on March 2, 1922, the daughter of Albert and Edna (Ricker) Lammers. She was a member of St. Anthony Parish in Columbus Grove, Ohio, at the time of her entrance into the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth. She pronounced first vows Jan. 3, 1949, and final vows Jan. 3, 1952.
Sr. Lammers earned a bachelor’s in history from Nazareth College and a master’s certificate in theology from Mundelein College in Chicago. Sr. Lammers also traveled to Europe to study school systems in Greece, Italy, Switzerland, France and England. She taught in several of the congregation’s schools, including St. Patrick in Portland, St. Joseph in St. Johns and St. Joan of Arc in St. Clair Shores. She ministered for 11 years at St. Francis Home in Detroit. In 1988, Sr. Lammers moved to Nazareth and worked as a ward clerk in Fontbonne Manor.
A funeral service was celebrated Oct. 3 in Holy Family Chapel in Nazareth.
