Sr. Mary Redempta Czepirski, CSSF

Sr. Mary Redempta Czepirski, CSSF, of Detroit, religious for 70 years, entered eternal life Jan. 15 in St. Joseph Care Center, Livonia. She was 88.

Born May 17, 1925, and baptized at St. Stephen Church, Detroit, Irene was the second of three daughters of Lucian and Sophie (Krzeminski). She attended St. Stephen Grade School and Felician Academy, and was accepted into the Felician Congregation in 1943. First profession of vows was on Aug. 13, 1945, and final profession Aug. 13, 1951.

Sr. Czepirski received a Bachelor of Arts from Madonna University and a Master of Arts from the University of Detroit.

For 50 years, Sr. Czepirski taught at Corpus Christi, Patronage of St. Joseph, Assumption, St. Albertus, St. Andrew, Guardian Angel Home (Child Care), and St. Stephen — all in Detroit; St. Stanislaus and St. Hyacinth, Bay City; Holy Rosary, Saginaw; St. John the Baptist, Alpena;  St. John Vianney and St. Jude, Grand Rapids; Our Lady of Refuge, Orchard Lake; St. Thecla, Mt. Clemens; St. Genevieve, Livonia; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Wyandotte; St. Florian, Hamtramck; St. Damian, Westland; Ladywood High School, Livonia.

In 1998, Sr. Czepirski joined the staff of St. Mary Hospital, Livonia and served as a clerk in the finance and material management departments until 2002, when she was permanently assigned to St. Joseph Care Center.

Sr. Czepirski is survived by her sister, Ann Pociask. Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 20 in the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel of the Felician Sisters, Livonia. Burial is in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
