Sr. Mary Therese Golden, OP

24-GoldenSr. Mary Therese Golden, formerly Sr. Frances Eugene Golden, died Nov. 20 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 87 and in the 69th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Golden was born in Chicago to Eugene and Frances (Madigan) Golden. She graduated from Loretto Academy in Chicago and received a bachelor’s in English from Siena Heights (College) University in Adrian and a master’s in English from DePaul University in Chicago.

Sr. Golden spent 23 years ministering in education in Michigan, Florida, Illinois and Ohio. In Michigan, she taught at St. Jude, Detroit (1950-52); St. Mary, Adrian (1952-55); St. John, Ypsilanti (1956-62), where she served as principal; and Aquinas, Southgate (1968-71). She also served as program director at Guest House in Lake Orion from 1993-95.

Sr. Golden is survived by a brother, Bob Golden of Burbank, Ill., and a sister, Eileen Rossman of Oxford. Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 24 in St. Catherine Chapel. Burial is in the Congregation cemetery.
