Sr. Regina Marie Cermak, CSJ

18-CermakSr. Regina Marie Cermak, CSJ, entered eternal life Sept. 23 at the age of 84.

Mary Ann Cermak was born in Blissfield, Mich., the daughter of Paul and Mary (Sarnik) on April 9, 1930. She was a member of St. Alfred Parish in Taylor at the time of her entrance into the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth on July 1, 1953. She pronounced first vows Jan. 3, 1956, and final vows Jan. 3, 1959.

Sr. Cermak earned a bachelor’s degree in art from Nazareth College and a certificate in religious education from Providence College in Rhode Island. She taught in several schools of the Congregation, including St. Bernard, Detroit; St. Elizabeth, Wyandotte; St. Veronica, East Detroit; St. Cyril of Jerusalem, Taylor; and Our Lady of Fatima, Michigan Center. In 2000, Sr. Cermak returned to Nazareth, where she ministered in pastoral care to the Sisters in Fontbonne Manor. In 2004, she began ministering as a companion to sisters who went for medical and dental appointments.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in Holy Family Chapel in Nazareth on Sept. 28.
