'The Gospel's Tension': Archbishop Weisenburger's Homily (27th Sunday in Ordinary Time)

In the Gospel reading for Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025 (27th Sunday in Ordinary Time), Jesus warns that the servant should expect no praise for doing what was commanded. Yet, we know of other parables in which servants are richly rewarded or even served by their own master in gratitude for a job well done.

In this homily reflection, Archbishop Weisenburger suggests that to follow Jesus is to embrace this Gospel tension: abandon all for His sake and gain everything; surrender your freedom and become truly free; leave everything behind and receive it back one hundredfold.
