VATICAN CITY — Watch as Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger receives his sacred pallium from Pope Leo XIV during Mass at St. Peter's Basilica on the Solemnity of SS. Peter and Paul.
Please say a special prayer for our archbishop as he accepts the mantle of the flock in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Archbishop Weisenburger's reception of the pallium is part of an ancient custom in the Church. Made of lamb's wool, the pallium symbolizes the sheep being laid upon the shepherd's shoulders. It is a sign of the archbishop's relationship with his flock, as well as his unity with the Holy Father.
