Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger announces the following appointments:
Reverend Francis Asomkase, SSJ, with the concurrence of his superior Very Reverend Raymond Bomberger, SSJ, appointed Administrator of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Detroit; Sacred Heart Parish, Detroit; St. Augustine and St. Monica Parish, Detroit; St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Detroit; and St. Elizabeth Parish, Detroit, which form the Detroit Lower Eastside Family of Parishes, effective July 27, 2026. This is in addition to Fr. Asomkase’s responsibilities as Administrator of St. Raymond-Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Detroit.
Reverend Justus Ihemawulotu, SSJ, with the concurrence of his superior Very Reverend Raymond Bomberger, SSJ, appointed Parochial Vicar to Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Detroit; Sacred Heart Parish, Detroit; St. Augustine and St. Monica Parish, Detroit; St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Detroit; and St. Elizabeth Parish, Detroit, which form the Detroit Lower Eastside Family of Parishes, effective August 1, 2026. Additionally, Fr. Ihemawulotu is appointed Parochial Vicar to St. Raymond-Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Detroit, also effective August 1, 2026. Fr. Ihemawulotu was ordained to the priesthood on May 30, 2026, and previously served in the Archdiocese of Detroit as a transitional deacon.
Reverend J. Thomas McClain, SJ, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend Karl J. Kiser, SJ, appointed Part-Time Priest Support to the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Gesu Parish, Detroit; and SS. Peter and Paul (Jesuit) Parish, Detroit, which form the Ignatian Family of Parishes, effective August 3, 2026.
Reverend Charles Nwamadi, SSJ, with the concurrence of his superior Very Reverend Raymond Bomberger, SSJ, appointed Parochial Vicar to Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Detroit; Sacred Heart Parish, Detroit; St. Augustine and St. Monica Parish, Detroit; St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Detroit; and St. Elizabeth Parish, Detroit, which form the Detroit Lower Eastside Family of Parishes, effective July 27, 2026. Additionally, Fr. Nwamadi is appointed Parochial Vicar to St. Raymond-Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Detroit, also effective July 27, 2026. Fr. Nwamadi had been serving as Full-Time Priest Support to St. Raymond-Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Detroit.
