Celebrating Mass at the annual Black Catholic Women's Conference

Detroit Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger greets attendees at the start of Mass during the Black Catholic Women's Conference at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass with women from across the Archdiocese of Detroit during the annual Black Catholic Women's Conference at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Inspired by Matthew 14:28-33, the conference's theme was “Rooted in the Peace of Christ: Persevering Through the World’s Chaos.” In his homily, Archbishop Weisenburger spoke about the growing individualism in society and the temptation to keep faith private and comfortable. Instead, he said, Christ calls people into a relationship with God and with one another.
