Celebrating the feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta with the Missionaries of Charity

Archbishop Weisenburger poses for a photo with several of the Missionaries of Charity along with a portrait of Mother Teresa, whose feast day is celebrated Sept. 4.

On Saturday, Sept. 5, Archbishop Weisenburger celebrated Mass to mark the feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta with the Detroit-based Missionaries of Charity at St. Gabriel Parish in southwest Detroit. The Mass at St. Gabriel included a first-class relic of St. Teresa, who was canonized 10 years ago on Sept. 4, 2016. After receiving a call from Jesus to serve the poorest of the poor, Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. Today, the order includes more than 5,750 sisters worldwide.
