One of the world’s most renowned boy’s choirs, from London, England, will be visiting Michigan this summer and giving a performance in Detroit. The London Oratory Schola Cantorum will be giving a concert at Old St Mary’s Church in Greektown on Friday, July 18th at 7.30 PM. This choir of forty boys is famous for its interpretation of the traditional music of the Catholic liturgy, in particular renaissance polyphony, and for singing in movies such as the Lord of the Rings series. This year in particular, the 500th anniversary of the birth of the greatest of all polyphonic composers, the choir will be focusing on works by Palestrina, as well as other renaissance masters including Victoria, and from England, Byrd and Tallis. Admission to the concert is free, and a reception will follow.
