Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger announces the following appointments:
Deacon Lizandro Barba appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Southwest Detroit Family of Parishes(1), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Deacon Barba will serve primarily at the Basilica of Ste. Anne, Detroit. Deacon Barba will be ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 2026.
Fr. John Bettin appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Disciples Unleashed Family of Parishes(2), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Bettin will serve primarily at St. Isidore Parish, Macomb Township. Fr. Bettin currently serves as Priest in Solidum to the South Oakland 4 Family of Parishes.
Fr. Dik (Dino) Cekrezi, with the concurrence of his diocesan administrator, Very Reverend Mariano Tarantino, OCD, appointed as Administrator of Our Lady of Albanians Parish, Southfield, effective April 12, 2026. Fr. Cekrezi previously served as Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Albanians Parish, Southfield; and St. Paul (Albanian) Parish, Rochester Hills.
Fr. Zaid Chabaan appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the South Oakland 7 Family of Parishes(3), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Chabaan will serve primarily at St. Fabian Parish, Farmington Hills. Fr. Chabaan currently serves as Full-Time Priest Support to the Southwest Detroit Family of Parishes.
Fr. José Roberto da Silva França, with the concurrence of his archbishop, Most Reverend Paulo Jackson Nóbrega de Sousa, appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Emmanuel Family of Parishes(4), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. da Silva França will serve primarily at Holy Family Parish, Novi. Fr. da Silva França currently serves as Full-Time Priest Support to the Quo Vadis Domine Family of Parishes.
Fr. Jeffrey Day appointed as Full-Time Priest Support to the Livonia Area Family of Parishes(5), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Day will serve primarily at St. Aidan Parish, Livonia. Fr. Day currently serves as Weekend Priest Support to St. John Neumann Parish, Canton.
Fr. Theodore D’Cunha, SAC, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend Michael D’Almeida, SAC, appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Mother of Divine Love Family of Parishes(6), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. D’Cunha will serve primarily at St. John XXIII Parish, Redford. Fr. D’Cunha currently serves outside the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Fr. Richard Dorsch released from parish ministry to pursue liturgical studies, effective July 1, 2026. Fr. Dorsch currently serves as Priest in Solidum to the South Oakland 3 Family of Parishes.
Deacon Karl Finkbeiner appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the West Maple Family of Parishes(7), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Deacon Finkbeiner will serve primarily at Holy Name Parish, Birmingham. Additionally, Deacon Finkbeiner is appointed Chaplain to Brother Rice High School, Bloomfield Hills, and Marian Hill School, Bloomfield Hills, also effective July 1, 2026. Deacon Finkbeiner will be ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 2026.
Fr. Craig Giera appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Hope Renewed Family of Parishes(8), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Giera will serve primarily at Sacred Heart Parish, Dearborn. Additionally, Fr. Giera is appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Rouge Family of Parishes, effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Giera will serve primarily at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Dearborn. Fr. Giera currently serves as Director for Priestly Vocations for the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Fr. John Britto Gnanaprakasam, SAC, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend Emmanuel Savariaradimai, SAC, appointed Parochial Vicar to the Merciful Love of Jesus Family of Parishes(9), effective July 1, 2026. Fr. Gnanaprakasam currently serves outside the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Fr. Matthew Hood appointed Director of Priestly Vocations for the Archdiocese of Detroit, effective July 1, 2026. This new role is in addition to his current assignment as Chaplain to Detroit Catholic Campus Ministry.
Msgr. Charles Kosanke appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the South Oakland 4 Family of Parishes(10), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Msgr. Kosanke will serve primarily at National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak. Msgr. Kosanke currently serves as Regional Moderator of the Central Region and as Moderator and Priest in Solidum to the Southwest Detroit Family of Parishes.
Fr. Timothy Laboe appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Southwest Detroit Family of Parishes(1), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Laboe will serve primarily at the Basilica of Ste. Anne, Detroit. Fr. Laboe currently serves as Dean of Studies and Assistant Professor of Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit.
Fr. Andrew Mabee appointed Full-Time Campus Minister for Oakland University, Auburn Hills, and Administrator of St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, Auburn Hills, both effective July 1, 2026. Fr. Mabee currently serves as Priest in Solidum to the Emmanuel Family of Parishes.
Fr. Brian Meldrum appointed Dean of Studies at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit, effective July 1, 2026. Fr. Meldrum currently serves as Assistant Professor of Theology, Graduate Formation Director, and Director of Liturgy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit. He also serves as Weekend Priest Support to the Thresholds of Hope Family of Parishes.
Fr. Stephen Moening appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the Quo Vadis Domine Family of Parishes(11), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Moening will serve primarily at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park; St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Melvindale; St. Alfred Parish, Taylor; and St. Constance Parish, Taylor. Fr. Moening currently serves as Priest in Solidum to the Northwest Macomb Family of Parishes.

It is anticipated that Deacon Musgrave will serve primarily at St. Hugo of the Hills Parish, Bloomfield Hills. Deacon Musgrave will be ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 2026.

It is anticipated that Fr. Onyebuchi will serve primarily at St. Martin de Porres Parish, Warren. Additionally, Fr. Onyebuchi is appointed Part-Time Priest Support to the South Oakland 4 Family of Parishes(10), effective July 1, 2026. It is anticipated that Fr. Onyebuchi will serve primarily at National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak. Fr. Onyebuchi currently serves as Full-Time Priest Support to the South Oakland 7 Family of Parishes.
