Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger announces the following appointments:
Fr. Manuel Fernandes, SAC, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend Roque Gonsalves, SAC, appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Our Lady of Loretto Parish, Redford; St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Parish, Livonia; St. John XXIII Parish, Redford; and St. Valentine Parish, Redford, which form the Mother of Divine Love Family of Parishes, effective September 1, 2025. Fr. Fernandes will serve primarily at Our Lady of Loretto Parish, Redford; and St. Valentine Parish, Redford. Fr. Fernandes currently serves outside the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Fr. Socorro Fernandes, SAC, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend Roque Gonsalves, SAC, appointed Full-Time Priest Support to the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Church of the Holy Spirit, Highland; St. Mary, Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Milford; St. Patrick Parish, White Lake; and St. Perpetua Parish, Waterford, which form the West Oakland Catholic Family of Parishes, effective June 2, 2025. Fr. Fernandes will serve primarily at St. Patrick Parish, White Lake. Fr. Fernandes currently serves as Moderator and member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Our Lady of Loretto Parish, Redford; St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Parish, Livonia; St. John XXIII Parish, Redford; and St. Valentine Parish, Redford, which form the Mother of Divine Love Family of Parishes.
Fr. Matthew Hood appointed Administrator of St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, Auburn Hills, effective July 1, 2025. This is in addition to Fr. Hood's ongoing responsibilities as Chaplain of Detroit Catholic Campus Ministry.
Fr. Avinash Mascarenhas, SAC, with the concurrence of his superior, Very Reverend Roque Gonsalves, SAC, appointed Parochial Vicar of St. Ignatius Parish, Grand Cayman, effective July 1, 2025. Fr. Mascarenhas currently serves outside the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Fr. Steven Mateja appointed Parochial Vicar of St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, Auburn Hills, effective July 1, 2025. Fr. Mateja is also appointed Co-Chaplain (alongside Fr. Matthew Hood) of Detroit Catholic Campus Ministry, effective July 1, 2025. Fr. Mateja currently serves as a member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Christ the Redeemer Parish, Lake Orion; St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, Auburn Hills; and St. Joseph Parish, Lake Orion.
