WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — In the year of St. Joseph, the carpenter, the Capuchin friars of the Province of St. Joseph hosted a “blessing of the tools” prayer service on Father’s Day weekend, June 19.

During the special service at the Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington Township, families were invited to bring hammers, saws, ratchets and other tools to be blessed. Afterward, those who were interested were invited to walk to the retreat center’s outdoor Cross in the Woods, explore nature trails and collect kindling for summer bonfires.

Fr. Tom Zelinski, OFM Cap., led the prayer service and blessing, which included a special blessing for fathers.
