“I have found these past nine years as president most fulfilling because, with the help of others, many innovations were accomplished that served the needs of our faculty, students, parents, and alumni,” Carnaghi said.

His active role in the school included overseeing the growth in the Planned Giving program and leading a $7 million renovation, which includes a classroom wing, science and computer labs, and chapel.

Though he is stepping down, Bro. Carnaghi plans to continue working with the school supporting student-learning programs.

“As president… Bro. Robert Carnaghi has worked tirelessly to maintain the standard of excellence associated with De La Salle Collegiate,” said Benjamin Aloia, chairman of the De La Salle Board of Trustees.

Bro. Thomas Lackey, FSC, alumnus of De La Salle, will succeed Bro. Carnaghi.

“I look forward to working with De La Salle faculty and administration, as well as parents, past and present, and alumni to strengthen the holistic approach to education, which is a hallmark not only of De La Salle Collegiate, but of all Lasallian schools,” Bro. Lackey said.

During the establishment of the Macomb Count’s all-boys Catholic college preparty high school, Bro. Lackey served as chief administrator. Currently, he is the director of Lasallian Formation for the United States Toronto Region.

“I am delighted with the board’s selection of Bro. Tom,” Bro. Carnaghi said. “He is returning ‘home’ where he can continue the many positive accomplishments he achieved during his previous leadership at De La Salle Collegiate.”
