Fr. Leo P. Cachat, SJ, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the age of 92.
From an obituary that is available online, we understand that Father Cachat was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 27, 1933. He was a graduate of Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He entered the Society of Jesus on September 1, 1954, at the Milford Novitiate in Milford, Ohio and was ordained a priest on March 20, 1966, in Saint John Parish in Kurseong, India. Father professed final vows on April 22, 1973, at Saint Xavier School Godavari in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Father Cachat served as a Chaplain at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Detroit and in ministry for Manresa Jesuit Retreat House, Bloomfield Hills.
Father Cachat was predeceased by his parents Leo Peter and Zita Joliat Cachet, his brothers Louis, Edward, Francis, Victor and David Cachat, his sisters Alice Cachat and Mary Therese Kramer. He is survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM until his Wake Service at 7:00 PM, at Colombiere Center (9075 Big Lake Road, Clarkston, Michigan). His funeral Mass will be Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Colombiere Center. Burial will follow at the Colombiere Cemetery.
