TRENTON — Mitch Koleczko has been reviewing fish fries on his Facebook and Instagram page, Mitch's Friday Fish Fry Reviews, for nine Lents. This year, Koleczko — who has built a small but devoted following as the "fish fry guy" in Metro Detroit — will share his reviews, always in good spirit, with Detroit Catholic.

On the first Friday of Lent, Feb. 24, Koleczko visited St. Joseph Parish in Trenton. Here's Mitch:

--------------

Happy Friday everybody! Fish Fry #51 took place at St. Joseph's Parish/School in Trenton, MI, located at 2675 Third Street. The church is beautiful! The school is located right next door to the church. The fish fry takes places in the School Activity Hall/Gymnasium.

When I arrived it was very busy. They get a busy and steady crowd. Head over to the activities center (there is a sign outside to direct you). You will order and pay at the table (cash or credit). You will be given a table number, head to the gym and find yourself a seat at a table. Plenty of circular tables were set up. Enjoy meeting new friends. When the order is ready, a student will bring your food out to you. You can help yourself to condiments. Carry out orders are available.

Food was delicious .... menu was simple with some good choices. Shrimp, Mac 'n' Cheese and cheese pizza are also available. Check out the picture of the menu for all of the options. They will also be serving different specials each week ... they had salmon on the menu this week.

Bottled water, pop are available for purchase. Beer and wine also available, desserts $1.

Girl Scouts were selling cookies and they had a nice Kids Corner set up to keep the little ones busy, which was a nice touch.

The money raised goes towards various programs and they were raising money for Turkey/Syria Earthquake relief.

Thank you St. Joseph's for your hospitality. Everyone I met was very friendly and welcoming. Thanks to Emily Campbell for spending a few minutes with me. Especially the students ... they were very polite and worked diligently. Great job on all of the hard work you do. If you're in the Trenton area, head over and support them.
