Conference theme drew inspiration from a verse in Book of Ruth, 'Where you go, I will go'
DEARBORN — More than 600 women gathered on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn for the 16th Hispanic Women's Conference, organized by the Archdiocese of Detroit's Office of Hispanic Ministry.
Inspired by the words from the Book of Ruth — "Where you go, I will go," (Ruth 1:16) — the attendees reflected on their journey of faith as daughters of God, bearers of hope and love amidst everyday difficulties.
Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton celebrated a Mass, and talks in Spanish were led by Fr. Juan F. "Paco" Lopez, a Catholic psychiatrist born in Cuba, and Paola Alzate, a missionary from the Archdiocese of Manizales in Colombia. Both invited the women to reflect on the pilgrimage of Christian life, identity in God, and the transformation of suffering into hope.
