Nearly 175 priests gathered Jan. 14-16 at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit to begin praying, discussing and discerning the future of the Archdiocese of Detroit’s 209 parishes.
The three-day working session, which gathered priests from every corner of the Archdiocese of Detroit, is the first step of a restructuring process that will eventually result in new parish configurations, called “pastorates,” for southeast Michigan’s Church. The proposed pastorate models will be presented to the faithful during a series of more than 400 parish listening sessions this spring.
