DETROIT — Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger presided over the confirmation of adults on the Solemnity of Pentecost, June 8, at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit.
The feast day, which commemorates Jesus' gift of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, comes 50 days after the celebration of Easter in the Church's liturgical calendar. The solemnity is an occasion to celebrate the sacrament of confirmation, in which candidates are sealed with Chrism oil and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in their own lives.
