DETROIT — Hundreds flocked to the Solanus Casey Center on Detroit's east side July 30 for the fifth annual feast day celebration of Blessed Solanus Casey.

Capuchin friars from St. Bonaventure Monastery presided over three separate Masses during the feast day, which culminated a nine-day novena celebrating different aspects of the porter's life and ministry.

Before and after Masses, pilgrims stopped to pray at Blessed Solanus' tomb, left prayer intentions and checked out the center's new addition, which includes a new gift shop location and bakery.
